e-Invoicing and its Impact on Directors

With the implementation of e-invoicing, it is crucial for directors of companies receiving director fees exceeding RM150,000 per year to understand their obligations regarding e-invoicing. Notably, the IRB has clarified that directors classified under a contract of service are not required to issue e-invoices for their fees, while those under a contract for service must comply with this requirement. Independent directors, typically enter into a contract for service rather than a contract of service.

Thus, it is essential for directors to understand how such concepts can be applied in a real-world context, the antecedent tax compliance obligations, and impact on taxpayers as employers. This session aims to clarify the tax position surrounding these contracts, providing directors with the knowledge to navigate the complexities of their personal tax filing obligations, e-invoicing, and service tax requirements effectively from a holistic standpoint.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage on these issues with the IRB, EY and ICDM representatives in a panel session that is designed to bring these issues to life. Lastly, we will also run through in a live demo how directors can register using the IRB’s MyTax and MyInvois portals and view how the MyInvois portal can be used by them for e-invoice purposes. Join us to empower your understanding and enhance your views in this vital area and in understanding the obligations of directors in respect of e-invoicing and service tax.
