Alex Ooi is currently the Executive Director of the Audit Oversight Board (AOB), Securities Commission Malaysia (SC). He is also a member of the Advisory Committee on Sustainability Reporting (ACSR).
He is currently involved in the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AASB), the Ethics Standards Board (ESB) and the Education Board of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). He serves as an Advisor to the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB) and also represents the SC as a member in the Audit Licensing Committee of the Ministry of Finance Malaysia. He was a former Council Member of MIA.
He is a member of International Forum of Independent Audit Regulators’ (IFIAR) Investor and Other Stakeholders Working Group (IOSWG) and Sustainability Assurance Task Force (SATF). He is also currently a member of the CPA Australia Ethics and Professional Standards Centre of Excellence.
Alex is a Chartered Accountant of MIA, Fellow of CPA Australia, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA). He holds a Bachelor of Economics (Accounting) degree from Monash University, Australia.
