Rajah Rasiah is a Distinguished Professor of Economics at the Asia Europe Institute, University of Malaya. He holds a PhD from Cambridge University and was a Rajawali Fellow at Harvard. He has held key academic roles, including Dean at the University of Malaya and the first holder of the Khazanah Nasional Chair of Regulatory Studies.
Prof. Rasiah has served with numerous international institutions such as UNU-MERIT, Oxford, Cambridge, Zhejiang University, and the University of Cambodia. He has delivered lectures and keynote addresses at over 60 leading universities worldwide, including Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge, NUS, and ANU.
His research spans technology, industrial policy, development economics, foreign investment, and public health, with over 280 publications. He has contributed to major international reports for the UN, World Bank, ILO, UNESCO, and others.
He is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Robert McNamara Award (1993), the Celso Furtado Prize (2015), Malaysia’s Distinguished Professor Award (2017), and the Merdeka Award for Academic Excellence (2018).
