Dr Tunku Alina Alias serves as independent director on the boards of public listed companies such as Batu Kawan Berhad (chemicals, palm oil plantations and oleochemicalsl) Nestle (Malaysia) Berhad (FMCG), Inari Amertron Berhad (semiconductor OSAT) and a bank, United Overseas Bank Malaysia Berhad.
She is also the Chair of JA Russell & Co Sdn Bhd a family business (tea plantations, FMCG and agribusiness). On these boards, she chairs or is a member of the Audit and Risk Management, Nomination, Remuneration and Governance Committees. She volunteers as advisor with UNGCB Network (Malaysia/Brunei) and as mentor with Endeavor (a start-up/scale-up ecosystem), Leadwomen and the 30% Club. In the latter two, she is supportive of women leadership in the corporate world. She is also a member of FideForum and of ICDM, both organisations dedicated to corporate governance and development of directors.
Alina is passionate about corporate sustainability and climate change related issues and is presently a guest speaker in ICDM’s Mandatory Accreditation Program I. By profession, she is a lawyer, a certified mediator and holds a doctorate in philosophy in the field of Islamic Finance.
