Grace Yap serves as the independent director on the boards of Bata Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Sungei Bagan Rubber Company (MALAYA) Berhad. She was appointed in April 2023 as Bata (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd’s Director, landing her first board role through the ICDM Director Sourcing Service. With a distinguished career spanning over three decades, Grace brings extensive expertise in corporate law, governance, and strategic management. She spent the initial phase of her career practising corporate law, specialising in areas such as privatisation, management buy-outs, public listings, due diligence, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions.
Grace subsequently held prominent leadership positions as General Counsel with Sime Darby Berhad, Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd, and CapitaLand Malaysia REIT Management Sdn Bhd which is a capital market licensee managing a listed REIT on Bursa. At CapitaLand, she also served as Vice President of Legal, Secretariat, Compliance & Risk Management, providing strategic oversight in property development, construction, project management, asset management, capital markets, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, risk management, compliance and corporate governance and advisory.
