Richard Ong is Group Head, Group Risk & Compliance at Sime Darby Berhad. He is a certified accountant with 20 years of experience in governance, risk and control. He joined Sime Darby Berhad in 2018 as the Head of Risk and is responsible for implementing appropriate systems, programme and initiatives to manage the Group’s overall risk exposures. He was then promoted as Group Head in 2021 leading Sime Darby’s combined risk and compliance functions. He also leads and manages Sime Darby’s compliance programme including anti-bribery and anti-corruption, regulatory compliance, insurance and business continuity management programme. Prior to that, Richard was managing risk, governance and audit portfolios in government linked companies and public listed corporations including Axiata Group Berhad and MISC Berhad. Richard is also a certified climate change risk specialist awarded by the Global Association of Risk Professionals US.
