The role of the Company Secretary has evolved from an administrative role to one which encompasses a much broader scope including acting as a ‘board advisor’ and taking on the responsibility for the organisation’s corporate governance. Through the Chairman, the Company Secretary plays an imperative role in driving good governance and ensuring the board and its committees function effectively and in accordance with their terms of reference and best practices. (MCCG, 2021) Led by our experienced faculty Cheryl Khor, the 2-hour session will explore recent revisions that were introduced and provide better understanding on the key enhancements made, the role of the Company Secretary in the implementation of the updated and new best practices as well as key challenges that they might encounter during the transition.
