With effect from 1st June 2020, following the introduction of the new Section 17A of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 (“MACC Act”), a commercial organisation will be subject to strict accountability if it does not take reasonable steps to stop a person associated with it from engaging in a corrupt behavior for the organization's gain. The Commercial Organization's only means of defence is to demonstrate that, at the time the corrupt behaviour was committed, it had implemented a series of permitted preventive measures suitable for its organisation.

This programme examines how the new anti-corruption law function, the corporate liability and how to operate the anti-corruption compliance system effectively. By using case studies to highlight the red flag signs and lessons learned, the session also includes a discussion of best practices that can be used as a reference. The participants will thereafter acquire useful strategies for managing the anti-corruption programme in their individual organisations.
