他说，一名公司的董事有责任保护好公司的资产，董事不能窃取公司的资产，不能将资产转移到与自身有利益冲突的公司，必须对资产交易诚实，也必须有客观标准。
“诚实的人不会故意欺骗他人，不会侵占他人的财产，不会进行有损受益人的交易，也不会闭上眼睛和耳朵。”
他指出，在一马发展公司（1MDB）的案件被揭发之前，那些进行不诚实行为的董事未受到惩罚的案例是很多的。
汤米汤姆斯指出，在希盟政府在第14届全国大选上台后，一直致力于减少并消灭贪腐的情况。
