KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 — The government has taken several proactive measures to demonstrate its transparency in managing the country’s finances, said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 15): The best method of restoring trust in the corporate and commercial environment in Malaysia is to vigorously apply the law against any wrongdoer.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Tommy Thomas said Malaysian laws have generally been first rate, but the enforcement needs to be improved.

“If the enforcement message of the new government remains loud and clear, wrong-doing ought to reduce.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 — The corporate board committees and chairmen should undertake a regular performance evaluation to determine their effectiveness, a corporate governance expert said.

Shai Ganu, managing director; rewards business leader — Asia Pacific of Willis Towers Watson, said the regular performance evaluation is preferably done annually to allow the board to take a critical look at the company’s performance.

Its chief executive officer, Michele Kythe Lim said when corporations internalised good corporate governance they would easily gain the trust of consumers, employees, as well as the stakeholders.
